Népa'Lyonnes consists of three women from the Lyon region: Mélanie Alfon, Gaëlle Orillac, and Estelle Parrin Béraud. Their project is based on a simple idea. Set off to Nepal on foot, carrying in their bags over 50 kg of school supplies for the children they meet along the way. Notebooks, pens, drawing materials: ordinary objects here, precious treasures there.
Around them, a collective of local businesses and partners has formed, from the town hall of Dommartin to local shopkeepers. Expace has joined them.
In Nepal, supplies that are sorely lacking
In mountain villages, going to school often means walking for several hours. Classrooms operate with very little: teachers make do with the available materials, and families bear a cost that weighs heavily on modest budgets. The lack of supplies is not the only obstacle to schooling, but it is one of the most concrete and simplest to address.
This is the whole point of this project: no intermediaries, no heavy structures. The supplies leave Lyon and go directly into the hands of the children.
A commitment that aligns with our CSR approach
Expace is a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact and implements a daily CSR approach: in-house manufacturing in our Paris and Lyon workshops, materials and structures designed to be reused, and close attention paid to our production conditions.
Supporting Népa'Lyonnes follows the same logic. We design spaces where brands come to life; we also believe that a company must contribute to what is built around it. A project driven by residents of our region, benefiting children 7,000 kilometers away, brings the two together.
The project continues
The departure is scheduled for October 12, 2026, but the fundraising search continues to cover logistics. Both companies and individuals can still join the adventure.
