The Parisian bistro, kiosk version, in the heart of the station.
For Cafés Richard and Bouillon Service, Expace designed, manufactured, and installed "Café de Quartier". This grab-and-go concept store is located under the large glass roof of the Gare du Nord in Paris, one of Europe's busiest railway stations.
The goal was to bring the spirit of the Parisian café to the middle of the passenger flow, featuring an authentic bistro counter: warm, recognizable from afar, and designed for fast service. In just a few square meters, the kiosk combines the world of a historic coffee roaster with the expertise of popular Parisian catering.
The stand adopts the codes of a neighborhood café. The large burgundy and cream lambrequin, with its scallops, recalls the awnings of Parisian terraces. The base in pink ceramic-style tiles evokes the counters of yesteryear, while the polished stainless steel finishes bring a more contemporary touch. The kiosk has a strong identity, which can be spotted from afar, while harmonizing with the metal structure and glass roof of the station. Discover our other achievements in layout.
Designed for passenger flow
In a station, every second counts. The counter is open on several sides to multiply the points of sale and distribute the waiting. The refrigerated display cases, pastry shelves, and sandwich displays place products at eye level, so that customers can choose at a glance. An LED screen integrated under the awning announces current offers, such as the €5 "Coffee Break" (espresso and dessert). It serves as both a sign and a commercial tool, easy to update.
An optimized interior layout
Behind the counter, every centimeter is used. The coffee station, storage, refrigeration equipment, and cash register are organized so that the team can work smoothly, even during peak hours. Integrated lighting highlights the products and makes the kiosk welcoming at any time of day or night.
A turnkey implementation
Expace followed the project from A to Z: design, technical plans, manufacturing in our workshops, and then installation on site. The intervention took place in a station open to the public continuously, while respecting the safety, deadline, and logistical constraints specific to this type of location.
