The 2027 dates for SPIEL have not yet been published. The event is held every year at the end of October at Messe Essen; the 2026 edition is scheduled from October 22 to 25. In 2025, SPIEL brought together 948 exhibitors from 50 countries and 220,000 visitors from more than 80 nations, across seven halls and approximately 77,500 m², with 1,716 new products presented. Publishers who want a good location book very early.
SPIEL is not just visited, it is played. The unit of measurement for a stand is not the linear meter but the table: how many simultaneous games, how many demonstrators, what acoustics in a crowded hall. Added to this are the shop and its checkout, a storeroom to be replenished for four days, and high-level signage, the only kind truly visible in the aisles.
